My End of Module Responses!! -Three more responses Part two!

4)Fast food
http://beyoungbefoolishbutbebad.blogspot.com/2010/04/fast-food.html

In response to your blog entry I do agree I have noticed how fast food restaurants have appeared on the high street. I also think it’s is because our lives have changed in the society that we have no time to have a ‘proper’ meal due to work, family and commitments.
I do think also that many take fast food for granted thinking it’s a solution to the ‘no time’ problem but is it just an excuse because we simply can’t be bothered to cook a proper meal or the reality to have time has become a restraint in the modern times.

I guess the film ‘supersize me’ was brilliant in showing the effects to long term eating fast food can do to your health. I’m not a fan of people that go there daily to their ‘fix’ of the yummy delight of greasy fat. BUT! I am a fan of a food chain of Subway as they do healthier food than a fast food chain Mc Donald’s could ever do for me and another thing you can actually see the food being made in front of you instead of whatever fast food chains such as Mc Donald’s are putting in their foods so I prefer a freshly made sub to a Big Mac any day!
In my view Fast food should not be seen as the solution to having not time and should be ‘enjoyed’ in moderation NOT every day! And I feel the government should do more about it.

5)Cheating
http://beyoungbefoolishbutbebad.blogspot.com/2010/04/cheating.html

In response to your comment about cheating in an exam in your blog entry, I agree I do know like it when people cheat in an exam! It shows how much of a coward they really are in my view I mean having a qualification knowing you don’t deserve it in my view you’re only lying to yourself in all respect. But! The real pleasure comes when the guilty gets found out I feel like laughing in their face as they thought they could get away with it. I also found amusing the bit in your entry about cheating talking away the element of satisfaction in rub your hard earned success in someone else’s face and I do agree with that as its true because if someone’s success wasn’t hard earned what gives them the right to go about rubbing it their face.

However when it comes to your point about cheating in a video game it’s not really serious as cheating in an exam but I still don’t like cheating when it comes to gaining an upper hand to get through to the next level it seems stupid to me but yes I have done it a few times on Tomb Raider and other such games I don’t like the fact I have but I was pretty desperate for help in order to find out where certain things are in the game or how to defeat a certain monster you could say You Tube is my great friend in that respect.
In my view you may be able to cheat things in life but the thing you can never do is cheat death! If you do it’s a complete miracle and you should be called a saint.

6) Profanity
http://beyoungbefoolishbutbebad.blogspot.com/2010/04/profanity.html

In response to your blog entry I do agree and think that if anyone has not sworn in their life they are amazing as I do think that everyone swear up to their own certain point. Swearing has developed in many ways that you have pointed out in your entry. But however I don’t like it when someone says a swear word every minute in every sentence they say as it’s not needed.

And as I’ve mentioned swearing has developed as one of your example is when you hurt yourself by say stubbing your toe many often say ‘fuck’ or another instance is when you’re angry at someone and you put your fingers up it is a natural reaction that we learn from all around us as we grow up. Personally I don’t like to swear but I do in those situations as pointed out as examples as I’m trying to stop myself and say sugar instead. When it comes to swearing I’m not an angel but I’m not as half bad as some others I come across in daily life but I’m simply human as everyone is to an extent.

One final note! I have enjoy this module and thinking about the certain topics along the module. I have also enjoyed the writing of blog entries and it has been a pleasure doing this module as a whole.

My End of Module Responses!! -Three responses Part one!

1) Downloading Music and films illegally

http://aminacaley77.blogspot.com/2010/04/downloading-music-and-films-illegally.html

In response to your Blog entry i fully agree as I personally didn’t think it was harmful to the industry as it works out cheaper to get them for free then pay for it for an example would anyone pay £10 maybe more for a whole album or download the single tracks for free I think many people would rather choose not spending £10 or more it like walking into HMV and grabbing a CD and then walking out again not having to pay for it but then again that’s only my opinion.

I did the same I watched the BBC programme on the subject and it did open my eyes to how much it is hurting the industry and I quickly uninstalled some computer programs on my laptop that I use to use to download the music and I can proudly say that when I want to buy music I do via I Tunes.

And yes I do agree that the punishment under the law to stop it is a bit harsh but then again I wouldn’t want the person who pays for my internet to get into trouble for my doing so I do see the logic in the punishment.

But finally has anyone thought about blaming the people who developed the software in the first place???

2) Is Tanning bad for us?

http://aminacaley77.blogspot.com/2010/03/is-tanning-bad-for-us.html

In response to your blog entry on tanning I really do hate it when people to ahead to a tanning shop and abuse their own skin well that’s exactly what’s it like. And I completely agree how they moan when they find they’ve got skin cancer and they cry their eyes out wishing they should’ve gone in the first place many would have the argument that it’s their own fault as tanning is proven to cause cancer.

I do think that the government isn’t doing enough as the law for over 16 or 18’s only on sun beds isn’t working as an investigation on it through BBC watchdog programme proved it too easy for an underage to get served and that proves to me that the law isn’t working and more needs to be done.

I may not have seen the Nicola Roberts Documentary but I am pleased that a high profile person is using her fame to highlight the problem on a massive scale through the media.

3) Truancy AKA bunking off school

http://aminacaley77.blogspot.com/2010/05/truancy-aka-bunking-off-school.html

In response to your Blog entry I do agree that there are reasons for ‘bunking of school’ such as bullying, lack of interest in lessoned and so on.

I do agree with your point about it being harsh for the parents to be sent to jail but in all fairness it’s not just the parents fault as many do their hardest to in being a parents but in some cases the more there are rules set by the parent the more teenager wants to rebel.

The reason of having a lack of interest that I mentioned may be due to the fact that many lessons are no longer interesting as through experience myself many of the lessons weren’t that exciting except for the few that had teachers that showed a passion for the subject which made it easier for the teacher to make the lesson more exciting more enjoyable. Could this be a way of improving education as a whole?

Another hard reason for truancy may be the issue of bullying, in my view it is completely unacceptable that it still happens in schools around the country and so easy on in the internet. It proves the ‘anti bullying policy’ that many schools have enforced is not working because through personal experience I know that the school where I was bullied at could have quickly sorted out the problem instead of waiting for a number of incidents to rise until actually saying to the bully ‘right you are no longer a pupil at this school’.

Lecture 10: Body Modification and Tattoos

18 Is the glorious coming of age. You can drink, smoke, have sex and of course have a Tattoo or have a piercing!!

I can understand how many people either want to modify their body because of personal taste in forming an identity or because of culture in a tribe.
But there are forms that are wrong such as the foot blinding of children in a Chinese society and to me it’s not just not right as some might agree that is child abuse to cause harm to a child but there are other instances that cause harm to the likes of adults when it isn’t needed, it is just wrong.

Another form of body modification that is non permanent modification is make up as I am aware that many like to wear make up for a special occasion, but it also always seen on TV shows as the people in front of the camera are always wearing make up to make them look perfect but however in my view it doesn’t refer to real life as many like myself don’t like to wear make up as in my view it shows a confidence within yourself that you’re happy in your own skin. I’m not against wearing make up as there are moments when I like to wear a little lip stick. As for the people who love to have their own style with make up there are certain make up tutorials online for the difference in people such as who wear glasses and for those who like a dramatic look to their face but on the other hand I like when people have their dramatic style as it shows their individuality.

As for tattoos I also feel the certain designs people have shows their individuality. As I know from family and friends how have tattoos they generally have them to show their artistic passion for a certain thing or for memorial of a loved one i.e. Mother, Partner or Children. Tattoos can also be seen on the famous and when it’s noticed that they have a new tattoo it’s in the news as the public are often interested in stars such as Rihanna and Angelina Jolie.

I see nothing wrong with Tattoo but I understand that many faiths feel that Tattoo and other body modifications are an ‘attack on God in changing it from its natural state’ and there are some groups that feel ‘it’s a sign of a mental illness’.

Overall I feel that if you want to modify your body for any reason then you should as its you’re choice as everyone has freewill.

Lecture 9: Infidelity!! AKA Cheating!

Oh the Tigers were a bad boy!

It just shows everyone has the ability to cheat even Celebs like Tiger Woods , Cheryl Cole's footballing husband Ashley and even 'safe' band mate Mark Owen; and It wouldn't be right to not mention John Terry; all of these examples show that the media feeds of such stories and the readers they just love it!

Infidelity involves betrayal, lying, manipulation but especially risk taking and breach of trust of others. Even the innocence of children can be affected as they are often 'piggy in the middle'

In my view it is a form of lying, but its more interesting in the world of celebrities in the media . . . . . why??? maybe it’s because it draws the attention of readers as it proves that celebs are as normal as them and do make mistakes, but with humiliating consequences as one of the cheats found that being a footballer doing the dirty while married can have large consequences on the pitch, as Terry found when he was sacked as England captain because of his private life but many think Terry’s private life shouldn't interfere with his job being on the pitch however in my view it was right he should’ve been sacked as I think just by being the England captain he should be seen as a role model to the younger generation.

The highlight of an affair can also largely affect the marriage as footballer Ashley Cole found when his wife Cheryl ended theirs by giving a statement about her separating from him, but as her private life was just about saved from going out of control the medias focus was there every second even focusing on why she wasn't wearing her wedding ring when performing sometimes it seems quite pathetic the lengths they will go to have a story/article, even more when the 'kiss and tell' stories appear such as one of Tiger Woods mistress going public with the sexual text messages from Tiger during the affair and another of his mistresses also going publc in a tv interview then again they wouldn't get paid if there was no readers or viewers. The only person I felt for was the cheated on
was Woods wife as I’m guessing she was not pleased to find out what was going on behind her back, I also think it’s interesting how most of us don't agree with cheating but would be interested in reading about a celebs affairs and the juicy gossip it creates.

There may also other THRILLS to cheating such as the Secrecy? Being caught? The desire to be fulfilled? Or it maybe it just comes to one thing: sexual intercourse with someone else I think this is simply the reason why they cheat because when cheating becomes dangerous it becomes exciting and a thrill to do.
But when the cheating becomes known the result of it can wreck trust in relationships and between friends so is it really worth it? In my view No! If you’ve met someone else end the one you’re in, simple? Maybe not for some as some of the other reasons to cheat may be boredom, revenge, to look cool or even be unfilled when in a loveless relationship. When being in a loveless or abusive relationship becomes the reason is that when cheating becomes justified and not morally wrong?

But even more can anything good come out of the infidelity of a partner? That’s what the author Julia Powell found in her real life drama which inspired her own literally work when she gave an interview.

Maybe this shows that not all cheating is the same.

Lecture 8 -Bandits and Outlaws

Hasn't Outlaws always been Villains? Not really.
Robin Hood is probably will known to millions as the guy steals from the rich and give to the poor, the myth has been used in Films (famously by Kevin Costner, Walt Disney) and a recent BBC TV Series (Famously played by Jonas Armstrong).
Outlaws are known to be portrayed as a decent and honourable, is this because they only kill in pursuit or in revenge? Of course because as for an example the character Robin Hood would never steal where he came from as they had respect for the people they cared about. But are they Political? No! Because as the Robin Hood character shows he always fought for the rights and liberation of himself and the people who couldn't fight.

As for the Bandits.. . . . They aren’t so Nice.
‘Bonnie and Clyde’ and ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’ are just two examples of Bandits that didn’t care about the people they killed. By looking at the FBI files on 'Bonnie and Clyde' it shows how their backgrounds had links to crime to start with such as Bonnie was married to a
'imprisoner murderer' at 19 I ask myself what could have made get be married to a murderer was it the excitement of the crime? the excitement of the danger? When Bonnie and Clyde went on their 'Crime Spree' as the FBI files call it, they started out with low key crime such as on December 21 1933 they Robbed an innocent citizen and then gradually commited more dangerous crimes such as freeing prisoners on January 16 a year later I think this time space of events shows that they learnt to enjoy the rush they got when commiting the crimes and thats why they moved on quickly to the more worse crimes. As for Pretty Boy Floyd the proof of his evil crime can be shown in an article from the Eufaula Indian Journal in 1932 as it reports how he cold blooded murdered a sherff when caught by the sherff, the figure that 3500 !!! attended the popular sherffs funeral shows that Floyd didn't care who who he killed even if the victim was popular by locals.

Can bad guys really be good guys?
I don't think so as the saying goes 'a leopard will never change its spots' is kind of true but then again I also think that someone can change if they want to change, but I don't know if this can be said when talking about a criminal. when it comes to prison rehabilitation it is questionable whither it works or not as figures from Minstry of Justice shows that 'Adult re-offences fell 13%, from 167.9 re-offences per 100 offenders in 2005 to 146.1 in 2006. Between 2000 and 2006, the frequency of adult reoffending fell 22.9%.' I guess that rehabilitation can work in some cases but there are some cases when the rush of adrenaline gets so addictive that the criminal will always not care about the people they hurt.

As for in what contexts can villains become heroric figures????
When I think about it looking at the examples of when the criminal become champions of the weak like social bandits as stated in 'Bandits' by Eric Hobsbawn as that will result them in changing their lives. Am I wrong in being Optimistic or Should OUR law system change as I don't personally have any faith in our Justice system as the criminals don't really suffer like they should.
